WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE GO TO COFFEE DRINK?
Double shot of espresso, as is.
DESCRIBE YOUR MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE ASSOCIATED WITH COFFEE?
My musical travels have yet to take me to Italy, unfortunately, but I have had (to my taste) amazing coffee throughout Spain and France. How about this? Many years back at Asti, a much-revered restaurant right here in Austin, I experienced for the first time a simple coffee dessert, an Affogato. Single shot of espresso poured over vanilla bean gelato. Lovely! Even at places that don’t serve it, I just order those two items and construct the thing myself.
DO YOU MAKE COFFEE AT HOME? IF SO, HOW DO YOU PREPARE IT?
I make cold brew - Fara (Austin) dark roast – for the workweek. I let it steep 24 hours or so in a French press, then keep it in the fridge in whatever liquor bottle I recently emptied. Pour into a half-pint glass and drink black, or with a splash of almond milk. I work an early day shift at UT, so this makes it super convenient for me. On the weekend, however, I’ll just make a big pot of simple drip that my wife and I leisurely sip on, sometimes adding a single shot in for added kick – nothing fancy, a Breville machine and usually LaVazza.
WHAT WAS THE CRITERIA FOR CHOOSING YOUR PLAYLIST?
I write a quarterly music review blog for UT Libraries TexLibris (Whit’s Picks) focusing on awesome yet somewhat overlooked albums that ended up in the KUT Collection of the HMRC (Historical Music Recordings Collection). Being that I am the longtime guitarist for an awesome (yet somewhat overlooked) Austin band, I feel an affinity for these folks, and in my own humble little way would hope to bring them more fans. Also, I have brazenly thrown in music of my own!
Espresso is both a coffee beverage and a brewing method. It is not a specific bean, blend, or roast level. Any bean or roasting level can be used to produce espresso.
Espresso has significant contents of the dietary mineral magnesium, B vitamins niacin and riboflavin, and 212 mg of caffeine per 100 grams of coffee
